Emily & Forrester ~ North Conway, NH - Wedding

North Conway is one of those places that has intrigued me ever since I started climbing almost ten years ago. The presence of Mount Washington and the mountains surrounding it always had a very mysterious feel to me. Over the years I had probably made around a dozen trips to the area. Each ended up an adventure in the mountains that I will never forget. The other thing I would never forget about my trips to New Hampshire is the people that I met. I have done a fair amount of traveling but the people of the north east have got to be some of the kindest and friendliest I have encountered.

It was a no brainer that when my good friend, climber and fellow photographer Jean-Marc asked me to make the trip with him to photograph Emily and Forrester's wedding in North Conway, NH. So often we imagine a place or event looking a certain way and then when we get there its nothing like it. I always try to go to a new place with no pre concieved notions but I think to some degree it's impossible to avoid. I think it's just a natural human instinct. As much as I like to be in the present, I would be lying if I said that I don't think about the future or the past. On the ten hour drive down I tried to imagine what the family estate would look like. Although I can't quite put into words what I was imagining, when we finally drove up the road through the forrest in the dusk the night before the wedding day it was exactly as I had imagined.

It was such a pleasure meeting Emily and Forrester and their families. Once again the people and the mountains of New Hampshire left me feeling inspired. This is the way I saw the day through my eyes ........
